I'm not quite used with blogging regularly.

Anyway, 2 Saturdays ago, we discussed about 'Flow charting.' This is not the first time I learned about it in class. When I was in high school, it is a prerequisite to submit a flowchart to our teacher before making/ designing a program in QBasic and Turbo Pascal. Flow charts are very useful in organizing different processes that you plan to execute in your program. However, I had a hard time distinguishing the appropriate shape/ symbol to use especially when the program gets more and more complicated.

As you can see, the flow chart images that our group made is about the processes of voter registration and voting (using the PCOS machine). This topic is very interesting since the first automated national elections will happen this May 2010. I'm quite excited with the upcoming elections because it's my first time to exercise my right to vote and be a part in the selection of our nation's next leaders. Despite different controversies and speculations about the automated elections, I strongly believe that it is really the right time to abandon the manual system and shift to this new system. Automating the election process will definitely make the process more efficient, faster and easier for everyone.

One of our major problems in our country is the lack of trust of the people to our government. I cannot fully blame them for that. However, i believe that we must, at least, give trust to our government that they can pull this off. There's a difference between being critical in observing different societal events and being too paranoid and speculating so much.

When you are making a flow chart, it's very important to use LOGIC to give sense and meaning to the entire process. It's also the same when you're selecting the person you want to elect from an array of candidates for this upcoming elections. Let's all hope that the upcoming 2010 elections will be peaceful and succesful. :)

Learning about Web 2.0

It's been so long since the last time I blogged. But now, I'm back to blog about my different learnings in our BA 180.1 Class.

February 6, 2010- Web 2.0

Web2.0

-It is the term for different web applications that facilitate interactive information sharing, interoperatability, user-centered design, and collaboration on the web.

Social Networking Sites

I've made a lot of social networking accounts in different social networking sites. As far as I can remember, I've made accounts in Friendster, Hi5, Multiply, MySpace, Twitter, Plurk and Facebook. It's very hard to maintain and update all of these different accounts that's why I abandoned most of these accounts already. Now, my Facebook, Multiply and Twitter accounts are the only SNS that I regularly update.

Social Networking Sites are very helpful for me to communicate and reconnect with my friends and relatives here and abroad. You can update your friends with what's happening in your life by posting status messages, photos, videos, notes, etc. Likewise, you are also updated by viewing their posts. You can also invite people or RSVP to different events or parties that usually take so much time and effort if you're still going to use snail mail.

I learned different new trends in SNS like mobile social networking, online business networking, creating social media policies of companies, etc. Indeed, SNS made life easier for everyone!
